Epic 30-Day Longboard Journey Across Europe: An Interview and Travel Advice
Alex and Nico embarked on the longboard adventure of their dreams across Europe, in pursuit of freedom and wide stretches of road. Over the 30 days, their trek through Europe was filled with inspiration, unforeseen encounters, and unforgettable memories.
The Inspiration: Dreaming of a Longboarding Adventure
Interviewer: Alex, how did the idea for this incredible journey come about?
Alex: At 14, I came across a YouTube video of four guys longboarding across Germany. The vision of freedom and adventure stayed with me. Though life took me to Mexico and the idea faded, one day Nico asked, "Fancy an unforgettable trip?" That YouTube scene came flooding back, and I agreed without a second thought!
Opting for Longboarding: Its Distinctive Appeal
Interviewer: What makes exploring Europe on a longboard preferable to other types of travel?
Alex: It allows you to experience much more than travelling by train or car, and you interact with many people—some cheer, others honk, or ask about the journey. Most importantly, it’s the thrill of doing what you love while on the move. Skating through breathtaking landscapes is pure joy. Such a journey is emotional and truly for those in search of ultimate adventure.
Insights from European Roads: Advice for Future Longboard Travellers
Interviewer: What were some significant lessons from your 30-day journey?
Alex: While spontaneity is crucial, planning is vital too! Charting your route along good roads greatly enhances enjoyment and speed. Resist overbooking accommodation; retain flexibility. Believe me: covering 50 kilometres a day on a longboard feels far longer than anticipated! Travel light—my 14kg backpack soon felt like it weighed a tonne! A smaller, lighter pack is definitely advisable.
The Itch for Adventure: Why Everyone Should Try Longboard Touring
Interviewer: What would you tell someone contemplating a longboard trip around Europe? Why embark on such a journey?
Alex: It’s a transformative experience. During the expedition, I felt immense happiness and liberation. Everyday stress simply vanished. I was in control, utterly free. Skating through landscapes that seemed like paradise sometimes brings an overwhelmingly incredible sensation! If you crave adventure and deep freedom, you absolutely must try it.
Tackling Obstacles: Challenges and Downsides of Longboard Touring
Interviewer: Surely it wasn't all smooth skating. What challenges did you encounter?
Alex: Oh, it certainly wasn’t always straightforward! It's hard work, physically demanding, and entails variable road conditions. Hills quickly become foes, and you find yourself walking them. Limited storage is restricting, injuries are possible, and sometimes progress feels frustratingly slow. Quite honestly, some areas are a bit dull!
The Pull to Experience More: Future Longboard Ventures
Interviewer: Given all you've shared, would you consider doing it again?
Alex: Definitely, we plan on doing it again, though not immediately as my legs need to recover, but I yearn to relive it and embrace new experiences.
Unseen Tales: Behind the Curtain of the Longboard Adventure
Interviewer: Lastly, share some unseen moments that didn’t make it to your YouTube channel. What didn’t the audience see?
Alex: Well, Nico and I certainly had our moments! Being together non-stop for a month poses challenges for any friendship. Although we had disagreements, we always ended up laughing. The videos likely seemed smoother than reality—we fell more often than shown, and faced some risky situations. The hidden clumsy laughter and near-misses exceeded the final cut!
